Announcing Civil Pro Hosted Mobile

The last few months have been absolute madness here at Blue Sky. We are putting in the big hours finishing Civil Pro v9, but also migrating the mobile site so it can talk to the new version. And then there is all the documentation too!

Despite this, while migrating the mobile we have taken the opportunity to optimize significantly and find ways we can efficiently host Civil Pro for our clients. This option is for those wanting to access the benefits of the mobile site, without the hassle of setting up and maintaining an Internet server. You have your own database with only your data. You can host that in house, or we can host that on our cloud as well.

How it works

There are two ways Civil Pro mobile can be set up;

  1. We host your database and mobile site. You administer your projects with the windows desktop application the same way you always have, except that you are connecting to an offsite database.
  2. We just host the mobile site. It connects to your in-house civil pro database. All you need to do is let us through the firewall.

It is important to note, that regardless of which option you choose, you will also need to run at least one windows desktop copy of Civil Pro because the mobile app provides only a subset of the civil pro functions. Anyone familiar with civil pro will know that there is so much functionality that it will be a long time before it can all be done on mobile, and even then, mobile is still too clunky for some of the more sophisticated things Civil Pro can do.

If you want to investigate this further, feel free to contact us and we can work out a solution.
